What is Huel Professional?

Huel Professional is Vanilla flavoured Huel Powder that has gone through batch testing and is approved by the independent quality assurance programme, Informed Sport. Huel Professional is dedicated to those in the armed forces, professional athletes and emergency service personnel to manage the risks of inadvertent doping.

Does normal Huel contain banned substances?

Absolutely not! Huel doesn't contain banned substances, and our manufacturers neither handle nor produce any products on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) banned substance list[1]. But only batches tested by Informed-Sport are considered approved.

What is the difference between Huel Professional and the rest of the Huel Powders?

From a manufacturing point of view, Huel Professional is no different from the other Huel Powder products. All we do is send a sample batch of Huel Powder Vanilla to the LGC laboratories for testing to confirm that it does not contain any banned substances.

What is Informed-Sport?

Informed-Sport certification is a voluntary programme that reputable companies who wish to register their products can sign up to.

Informed-Sport was established in 2008 by HFL Sport Science, and now LGC (who acquired HFL in 2010). LGC not only test products for contaminants but also ensure that the manufacturing facilities where the products and production processes are of the highest quality standard.

LGC tests powders, bars, liquids, capsules and tablets, amongst other products, using validated methodology that is accredited to the ISO 17025 standard. ISO is the international science standard recognised across the world and the standard to which the WADA laboratories must be accredited.

What tests do Informed-Sport carry out on Huel?

Huel Professional goes through an analysis of over 160 substances that are considered prohibited in sport or pose a threat to product contamination. The full list of prohibited substances can be found in the WADA January 2019 report here.

Who needs to choose Huel Professional?

Military personnel – Those in the armed forces typically undergo compulsory drug testing. If an individual were to present with a positive test for ingredients that are in breach of service policy, this could be grounds for dismissal. Military personnel, therefore, need to ensure that they use products that are Informed-Sport registered.

Athletes – International and sometimes national level athletes can be drugs tested to ensure clean and fair play in sport. Athletes need to make sure that they aren’t ingesting substances that are on the WADA banned list[1] or prohibited by other sporting bodies. Choosing Informed-Sport certified products can give athletes peace of mind that they’re not inadvertently doping.

Emergency services staff – Safety is critical in the emergency services; as such, staff can be arbitrarily selected to provide samples to be analysed for drugs and alcohol testing.

By choosing products that bear the Informed-Sport logo, individuals can be sure that what is being ingested has been through the rigorous certification process.
